Our client, a global logistics company headquartered in Japan, is seeking a Forwarding Operations specialist to join its Milan office. In this role, you will be responsible for both forwarding operations and customer service activities, managing end-to-end operational coordination and serving as a key point of contact for customers.
You will oversee shipment operations, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure smooth communication with customers throughout the transportation process. Job Responsibilities
- Forwarding Operations
You will be responsible for handling end-to-end import and export operations for both air and ocean freight shipments.
- Manage import and export freight operations
- Coordinate with airlines, shipping lines, and business partners
- Monitor and manage transportation schedules
- Arrange customs clearance and delivery services
- Liaise with overseas offices and internal stakeholders
- Customer Service (CS)
As the primary point of contact for customers, you will support various transportation-related inquiries and requests.
- Respond to customer inquiries
- Provide shipment status updates and follow-up support
- Prepare quotations and shipping-related documentation
- Coordinate with customers regarding transportation arrangements
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth service delivery
Requirements
- Valid Italian work visa
- Based in or near the Milano area
- Business-level English and Italian proficiency
- Japanese language skills are a plus
- Experience in Customer Service or Operations within the freight forwarding industry
- Hands-on experience in import and export operations
- Strong customer communication and relationship-building skills
- Team-oriented and able to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders
- Proactive in identifying issues and driving improvements
- Flexible, adaptable, and capable of taking initiative in a changing environment
Preferred
- Experience handling both air freight and ocean freight shipments
- Experience working for a Japanese or Japanese-affiliated company
- Japanese language proficiency
